PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller that offers enhanced operation reliability.SOLUTION: A controller 20 operates in a first operation mode for reading data of first size from a semiconductor memory 30, and in a second operation mode for reading data of second size smaller than the first size. The controller 20 comprises: a first interface 27 for exchanging signals with the semiconductor memory; and a buffer memory 25 capable of holding data received via the first interface. The buffer memory 25 comprises: a first area A1 for holding data which is read from the semiconductor memory in the first operation mode; and a second area A2 for holding data which is read from the semiconductor memory in the second operation mode. |
