PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for obtaining an inorganic fibrous ceramic porous body having stable quality while reducing production cost.SOLUTION: A method for producing an inorganic fibrous ceramic porous body includes: forming a preform in which specific inorganic short fibers are arranged irregularly in a three-dimensional region, setting the preform in a carbon die so that the preform is surrounded by ceramic powder, performing first pressing in an inert gas atmosphere at a temperature within a range of 1,000 to 1,800°C under pressure of 5 to 50 MPa, allowing the preform to be in a state covered with the ceramic powder which has been densified, so as to suppress the release of pyrolysis gas from the inorganic short fibers and then performing second pressing at a temperature higher than the temperature of the first pressing and within a range of 1,600 to 1,900°C under pressure of 5 to 100 MPa. |
