PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor rotor support suitable for an axial gap motor and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A motor rotor support for supporting a magnetic material arranged in a rotor is made of a nonmagnetic steel with a relative permeability of less than 1.005 and a 0.2% proof stress of 550 MPa or more at room temperature. Preferably, a 18Mn-18Cr nonmagnetic steel is hot worked, then the hot worked material is machined to form a rotor support shape, alternatively, a 18Mn-18Cr nonmagnetic steel is hot worked, in addition, the hot worked material is cold worked, then the cold worked material is machined to form the rotor support shape, thereby the hot worked material can have characteristics of a relative permeability of less than 1.005 and a 0.2% proof stress of 550 MPa or more at room temperature, while the cold worked material can have characteristics of a relative permeability of less than 1.005 and a 0.2% proof stress of 600 MPa or more at room temperature. Thus, the support with high strength can be achieved while nonmagnetic characteristics are maintained. |
