PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method in which a protection operation is optimized when a power generation system comes to an end of its life and is stopped.SOLUTION: A power generation system 100 comprises: a power generation unit 1; a fluid passage 7 for exhausting a fluid having exhaust heat from the power generation unit 1; a heat exchanger 6 connected to the fluid passage 7; a hot water storage tank 2 for storing hot water exchanging heat with the fluid having the exhaust heat by the heat exchanger 6; a first circulation path 5 for circulating the hot water between the hot water storage tank 2 and the heat exchanger 6; a heater 8 and a first pump 3 provided in the first circulation path 5; and a controller 20 controlling each apparatus. A method for operating the power generation system 100 includes: a step in which the controller 20 executes a first protection operation during a first life-end stop time when a continuous use can be selected; and a step in which the controller 20 executes a second protection operation during a second life-end stop time when the continuous use cannot be selected. The first protection operation includes more protection operations than the second protection operation. |
