PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission for a vehicle that reduces a sense of incongruity in operation between a forward first speed range and a reverse range while improving fuel efficiency during high-speed traveling.SOLUTION: Three rotational elements of each of first-fourth planetary gear sets 2-5 are arranged side by side at an interval corresponding to a gear ratio of planetary gear sets on a common velocity diagram and are set as first-twelfth elements in order. An input shaft 1 is constantly linked to elements via clutches as follows: a third element 21 via a first clutch 8, a sixth element 31 via a second clutch 9, and an eighth element 44 via a third clutch 11. An output shaft 12 is constantly linked to a seventh element 42 and an eleventh element 54. A twelfth element 51 is constantly fixed to a stationary section 13. A first element 22, a fifth element 34, and a ninth element 41 are constantly fixed to each other. A second element 24 is constantly linked to a fourth element 32 and can be fixed to a stationary section 13 by a first brake 7. The third element 21 can be fixed to the stationary section 13 by engaging with a second brake 6. An eighth element 44 can be linked to a tenth element 52 via a fourth clutch 10. |
