PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge tool sharpness evaluating method and device in which sharpness of an edge tool can be evaluated closely to sharpness that a user feels.SOLUTION: An edge tool sharpness evaluating method is provided for measuring loads, in a plurality of directions, acting on an edge tool 2 supported by an edge tool supporting part 10 while a supporting part moving mechanism 30 is bringing the edge tool 2 into contact with a specimen 3 held by a specimen holding part 40. An edge tool sharpness evaluating device 1 is also provided which comprises the specimen holding part 40 in which the specimen 3 can be exchanged, the edge tool supporting part 10 in which the edge tool 2 can be attached and detached, the supporting part moving mechanism 30 which is capable of moving the edge tool supporting part 10 in a three-dimensional manner, and a force sensor 20 capable of measuring a load acting on the edge tool 2 while the edge tool 2 is in contact with the specimen 3. |
