PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wastewater treatment system and a wastewater treatment method capable of reducing the system installation area even when treating wastewater with high COD.SOLUTION: In a wastewater treatment system and a wastewater treatment method for treating wastewater with CODbeing 3,000-10,000 mg/L, a membrane separation type activated sludge treatment apparatus 30 performs the biological treatment with aerobic microorganism in activated sludge, and also performs the solid-liquid separation treatment by a membrane module 35 while keeping the CODvolume load at 1-3 [COD-kg/m/day].
