PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a base tread, the composition capable of improving rolling resistance performance, breaking strength and processability in a good balance, and a pneumatic tire using the composition.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a base tread comprises: a rubber component including a conjugated diene-based copolymer having a structural unit based on a conjugated diene and a structural unit expressed by formula (I), in which at least one end of the polymer is modified with a specified compound; silica (1) having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 130 m/g or less; silica (2) having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 150 m/g or more; and a silane coupling agent. |
