PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute normal backup without giving any influence to a task.SOLUTION: A fault tolerant server makes first and second tape devices start the execution of first and second backup jobs which are different from each other in a state that their synchronization is established. When any situation which affects a task occurs during the execution of the first and second backup jobs, the fault tolerant server executes rescheduling such that the execution of the first backup job is stopped, and that the first backup job is executed by the second tape device. The second tape device starts the execution of the first backup job while continuing the execution of the second backup job. Then, after releasing synchronization, the fault tolerant server is divided into first and second systems, and the first system executes the task, and the second system executes the first and second backup jobs. Then, when the second system ends the execution of the backup job, both systems establish synchronization, and execute the task. |
