PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resin particles that hardly dissolve in a vinyl monomer, readily dissolve in an organic solvent and are excellent in monodispersity, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Resin particles comprise a non-crosslinked polymer, have a mass-average molecular weight of 200,000-600,000 and have a coefficient of variation of the particle size of ≤15%, wherein the non-crosslinked polymer comprises 80-95 mass% structural unit derived from an alkyl (meth)acrylate wherein an alkyl group has 3 or less carbons (first monomer) and 5-20 mass% structural unit derived from an alkyl (meth)acrylate wherein an alkyl group has 4-12 carbons (second monomer). A method for producing the resin particles comprises steps of: producing seed particles by carrying out emulsion polymerization of the first monomer in the presence of a prescribed amount of a chain transfer agent; allowing the seed particles to absorb the first monomer and subsequently polymerizing the same in the presence of a prescribed amount of the chain transfer agent so as to enlarge the seed particles; and allowing the seed particles to absorb a non-crosslinkable monomer mixture comprising 80-95 mass% of the first monomer and 5-20 mass% of the second monomer and subsequently polymerizing the same in the presence of a water-soluble polymerization inhibitor. |
