PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting apparatus capable of accurately determining the existence of a substrate therein, a substrate detection method and a substrate manufacturing method.SOLUTION: The component mounting apparatus comprises a conveyance unit, a mounting unit, a detector and a control unit. The conveyance unit conveys a substrate. The mounting unit, having a head for holding a component and a movement mechanism for moving the head, mounts a component on a substrate. The detector is movable while being supported by the movement mechanism and detects a substrate. The control unit makes the detector scan by using the movement mechanism, using the direction containing the component of the conveying direction of the conveyance unit as the scanning direction. The control unit determines the existence of a substrate in the conveyance unit based on the information detected by the detector. |
