The method involves utilizing information from temperature probes implanted in a depollution system and recording data acquired during developing phase of an engine (10). A control parameter is generated and updated to control scenario of adjustments of the engine to accelerate post-treatment as well as another scenario of the adjustments of the engine to decrease fuel consumption, where the adjustment of the engine optimizes the customer usage, and supports reduction of fuel and reliability of the engine when the parameter reaches a value. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling emissions of pollutants in a depollution system of a combustion engine.
