The method involves providing a set of measurements e.g. height of shoulders, for a user, where the set of measurements are given using a rangefinder. The measurements are taken when the user is in a sitting position in a seat (1) of a vehicle (2) i.e. car. The rangefinder is associated with a smart phone and a user interface. The set of measurements is exploited to select a model of a user in a database and to adapt the seat according to the selected model. The seat is arranged with a base (12). An independent claim is also included for a device for adjustment of a seat of a car.
