PURPOSE: An active matrix display device is provided to improve the coating of a film by forming a taper shape and to improve yield. CONSTITUTION: A first spacer is formed on a first electrode layer. An insulating layer covers the end part of the first electrode layer. A second spacer is formed on the insulating layer. An electroluminescent layer (188) is formed on the first electrode layer and the first spacer. A second electrode layer (189) is formed on the electroluminescent layer.
