The system (1) has a lock (2) intended to be mounted on a side door of a car, where the lock is provided with holes (6) for receiving screws (7) for fixing. A sheet (11) is intended to be fitted and attached to the lock, where the sheet is pierced with three holes (12) for the passage of the screws. An indexing device is provided for indexing the lock relative to the sheet in three orthogonal directions in pairs, where the indexing device includes two indices (14) shaped to be removably mounted in the holes of the lock. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembly of a lock relative to a sheet in a side door or a boot door of a car.
