PURPOSE: A norbornene polymer is provided to ensure low birefringence, low absorption, and transparency, especially very excellent thermal stability, and to be useful for an optical fiber, especially a base film of various functional optical films. CONSTITUTION: A norbornene polymer comprises a structure unit represented by chemical formula 1 or chemical formula 2. In chemical formula 1, R3 is a C1-20 aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon, an aliphatic hydrocarbon consisting of C1-20 carbon and oxygen in a main chain, a C1-20 halogen atom-substituted aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon, and C1-20 silicone compound-substituted aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon; R1, R2, R11, R12, R21, R22, R31, R32, R41 and R42 are independently hydrogen atom or C1-30 substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon; and l, m, n and o are an integer of 0-2. |
