The method involves providing an electrical circuit (1) comprising a switching system (2) e.g. direct current converter, with a set of arms (3). Each arm is allowed to extend between a positive conductor (4) and a negative conductor (5) of a direct current bus (7). Each arm is allowed to contain two switching cells (10) in series. A short circuit is performed between the positive conductor and the negative conductor of the direct current bus to enable discharge current of an electrical energy storage unit e.g. capacitor (20), to flow from the positive conductor to the negative conductor.
