PURPOSE: A menu search method of a smart television (TV) is provided to search a lower level item by modifying an item selected by a menu corresponding to a direction key input signal of a controller. CONSTITUTION: A smart TV receives a direction key input signal of a controller (S100). The smart TV modifies an item selected by a menu corresponding to the direction key input signal. The smart TV displays a lower level item comprising an item (S200). The smart TV modifies the lower level item through automatic control and displays the lower level item (S300). The smart TV modifies the lower level item through a scroll type animation and displays the lower level item.
