The invention relates to a method for transmitting a presence map of mobile terminals connected via a communication session to a mobile network covering a plurality of location areas, which is to be implemented by a device (GMLC, MME1, MME2, MME3) of the mobile network capable of collecting location information of mobile terminals, the method including: a preliminary step of obtaining so-called area information, including at least one piece of information relating to the existence of at least one area from among the plurality of location areas which is referred to as a special area and with which a special session-processing rule is associated; at least one iterative step of updating a presence map associating location area identifiers with terminal identifiers, the step including the following steps: collecting location information of a terminal, including a location area identifier of said terminal (UE); searching the area information for the existence of a special area that corresponds to said location area; and, when the special area exists, adding the terminal identifier and the location area identifier to the terminal presence map; and a step of transmitting the terminal presence map to a device (PCRF) of the mobile network capable of applying a session-processing rule to a terminal in accordance with at least the location area thereof.
