The method involves integration of a deadline for consumption in a code i.e. GS1 databar of each food product, and adaptation of cases of food products in distribution stores such that an information system records the deadline for consumption of each sold food product. A description of store inventories is enriched by including the information on the deadline for consumption of each food product. A listing summarizing the food products that have not yet been sold and that might become obsolete is frequently produced.
