PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an austenitic stainless steel for an EGR cooler and an exhaust heat recovery device when using a fuel having a high sulfur concentration because of insufficient refining.SOLUTION: An austenitic stainless steel for a member of an exhaust gas flow channel has a composition including 0.001-0.030 mass% C, 0.10-0.70 mass% Si, 0.10-1.00 mass% Mn, 0.005-0.045 mass% P, ≤0.003 mass% S, 18.00-40.00 mass% Ni, 20.00-30.00 mass% Cr, ≤2.00 mass% Cu, 3.00-8.00 mass% Mo, 0.08-0.30 mass% N, and ≤0.13 mass% Al, with the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities, while satisfying a relation: Cr+2Mo+0.5Ni≥40. |
