METHOD FOR TREATING CYANOGEN-CONTAINING WASTE WATER

Provided is a method for treating cyanogen-containing waste water, which is capable of oxidatively decomposing a cyanogen compound sufficiently even in cases where the cyanogen-containing waste water contains ammonium ions and an organic material, and which is also capable of preventing scales. A method for treating cyanogen-containing waste water, wherein a cyanogen compound is decomposed by adding a chlorine source to cyanogen-containing waste water that contains the cyanogen compound. This method for treating cyanogen-containing waste water is characterized in that: the cyanogen-containing waste water contains ammonium ions and an organic material; the pH of the cyanogen-containing waste water is set to 11 or more; and the chlorine source is added such that the free residual chlorine concentration is 0.1 mg/L or more even after the cyanogen compound decomposition reaction, while adding a phosphonic acid-based scale inhibitor.
