PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve positioning accuracy and operation speed relating to a positioning system, a server, a portable terminal, a method for positioning, and a program.SOLUTION: The positioning system comprises: an acquiring part 2 that acquires information on a link string including a link and a node corresponding to a moving route of a portable terminal 10 and time information; and a generation part 3 that generates unit links formed by dividing the link string acquired by the acquiring part 2 by a node unit. Further, the positioning system comprises: a collation part 4 that extracts route candidates corresponding to the unit links by collating the unit links generated by the generation part 3, and map information; and a calculation part 5 that calculates the moving route of the portable terminal 10 on the basis of a time-series route formed by connecting the route candidates extracted by the collation part 4 along the time series.
