Provided are: an eyepiece lens that sufficiently and favorably corrects aberrations across a wide angle of field, does not have a long overall length despite having a sufficient eye relief, and moreover has a suppressed increase in lens diameter; and an optical apparatus provided with the eyepiece lens. The eyepiece lens (3), which is used in an optical apparatus such as a telescope optical system (TS), has in sequence from the object side: a first lens group (G1) having a first lens component (G1A) having a negative refracting power and a concave surface facing the observer eye side, a second lens component (G1B) having a meniscus shape and a convex surface facing the object side, and a third lens component (G1C) having a positive refracting power; a second lens group (G2) having a lens component having a convex surface facing the observer eye side; and a third lens group (G3) having a positive refracting power. The object side focal plane of the third lens group (G3) is positioned between the second lens group (G2) and the third lens group (G3). |
