PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a retardation increasing agent which has excellent compatibility, causes no bleed-out etc. and can impart a high retardation value to a film; a cellulose ester resin composition containing the retardation increasing agent; and a film with excellent optical characteristics obtained from the cellulose resin composition.SOLUTION: The retardation increasing agent comprises at least one compound represented by the specified general formula (1).
