PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate using a polyethylene terephthalate film as a protective film, the polarizing plate having excellent visibility and less color unevenness when mounted on a liquid crystal display device and difficult to cause deformation even under severe conditions such as high temperature conditions, and to provide a liquid crystal display device excellent in visibility and environmental resistance using the polarizing plate.SOLUTION: There is provided a polarizing plate which is formed by laminating a polarizing film composed of a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin and a drawn polyethylene terephthalate film through an adhesive layer on one side of the polarizing film. The drawn polyethylene terephthalate film has 400 nm or less of an in-plane phase difference value, 7 or more of an Nz coefficient represented by (n-n)/(n-n), where a refractive index in an in-plane slow phase axis direction is defined as n, a refractive index in a direction orthogonal to the in-plane slow phase axis is defined as nand a refractive index in a thickness direction is defined as nand 800 MPa or more of a tensile elastic modulus at 80°C. A liquid crystal display device using the polarizing plate is also provided. |
