Provided is a method for producing modified cellulose nanofibers, the method being characterized by comprising a step for disintegrating cellulose in a separating resin to produce cellulose nanofibers, and a step for reacting the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose nanofibers and a cyclic anhydride polybasic acid (A) in the separating resin to obtain modified cellulose nanofibers. Also provided are the modified cellulose nanofibers obtained by the method of production, a resin composition containing the modified cellulose nanofibers, and a molded body thereof.
