PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical film in which a peeling of a film is hard to occur at any time when starting from a beginning of production up to a steady operation or in a steady operation, and no dirt of a support belt occurs, and further, to provide an optical film manufactured by the manufacturing method, a polarizer using the same, and a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method for an optical film including a cellulose ester resin satisfying the formulas 2.3≤X+Y≤2.6 and 1.4≤X≤2.6, or a cellulose ester resin in which the degree of substitution of an acetyl group of cellulose ester is 2.6-3.0, the manufacturing method for the optical film by a solution casting film-forming method using a dope in which when starting from a beginning of production up to a steady operation, the water content is 2.0-5.0 mass%, and in a steady operation the water content is 0.6-2.0 mass% is used. |
