PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving genus Dehalococcoides bacteria enabling the bacteria to be freeze-preserved with the activity kept high.SOLUTION: The method for preserving genus Dehalococcoides bacteria comprises: sealing a genus Dehalococcoides bacteria-containing culture fluid in a freeze-preserving vessel in an anaerobic atmosphere without adding any freeze-protective material thereto to effect the objective freeze preservation of the bacteria. In this method, an anaerobic gas constituting the anaerobic atmosphere is e.g. nitrogen gas alone, a mixed gas of nitrogen gas and carbon dioxide, a mixed gas of nitrogen gas, carbon dioxide and hydrogen; and the freeze-protective material is e.g. glycerol, ethylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide, sucrose, glucose, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, starch, dextran, trehalose, skimmed milk. |
