PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmitting and receiving system for enabling a driver to earlier recognize another vehicle and a pedestrian lurking in a position to be a blind spot when viewed from an own vehicle.SOLUTION: An image transmitting and receiving system comprises: an image imaging and transmitting device for geometrically converting a video image imaged by using a camera installed on a road or the like, outside an own vehicle into a video image when viewed from a predetermined position outside the own vehicle, and transmitting it; and an image receiving and displaying device for receiving the transmitted image, and displaying it to a driver. The image imaging and transmitting device transmits detection information obtained by performing image recognition to the converted video image to detect a predetermined object, to the image receiving and displaying device. The image receiving and displaying device enhances the object and displays it; or combines a symbol image of the object with map data of a position where the vehicle exists and displays it; or selects the enhanced image and the symbol combined image according to a distance between both devices and displays them.
