<p>[Problem] To provide a door closer which generates large door closing force immediately before the closure of the door and which has a small outside diameter. [Solution] This door closer (10) has: a hinge housing (20) which comprises a first tube body (14) and a second tube body (18); an inner shaft (34); an outer shaft (36); and a clutch mechanism (38). When the door is located at a position between an initial pivoting position corresponding to a state in which the door is closed and a first pivoting position corresponding to a state in which the door is open by a predetermined angle, the clutch mechanism (38) engages the outer shaft (36) with the first tube body (14), and when the door is located between the first pivoting position and a second pivoting position corresponding to the fully open state of the door, the clutch mechanism (38) releases the outer shaft (36) from the engagement with the first tube body (14) and engages the outer shaft (36) with the inner shaft (34). As a result of this configuration, when the door is located between the initial pivoting position and the first pivoting position, relative rotation occurring between the first and second tube bodies (14, 18) twists the outer shaft (36) and stores elastic restoring force for closing the door.</p> |
