PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereophonic sound calculation method, apparatus, program and recording medium, a stereophonic sound presentation system, and a virtual reality space presentation system capable of considering an influence of a sound diffracted by a propagation obstacle such as a soundproof fence.SOLUTION: The method calculates a stereophonic sound caused by diffracted sounds which are propagated to an observation point r after diffraction by the ends of a propagation obstacle B from a mobile sound source rs behind the propagation obstacle B. The method expresses the mobile sound source rs by virtual sound sources rsand rsmoving along the extension portions of straight lines combining the observation point r and the respective ends of the obstacle B, sets the virtual sound sources in accordance with the number of diffraction paths of the diffracted sounds, and calculates a sound at the observation point r on the basis of the propagated sounds from the virtual sound sources rsand rs.
