PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably detect at least either abnormality in a recording medium or a corner position of the recording medium.SOLUTION: An image reader detects a corner of a sheet in a specific region (300), and estimates the corner of the sheet (302). If the detected corner and the estimated corner are within a predetermined range, the image reader sets the detected corner to a sheet reference position and executes various types of correction. If the detected corner and the estimated corner are not within the predetermined range, the image reader reports sheet abnormality and sets the estimated corner to the sheet reference position and executes various types of correction (308 to 316). |
