A doctor assembly (305) for a pad printing system (405) includes a body (310) and a doctor blade (312). The body (310) has an outer surface (330) and an opposite inner surface (322) that defines a passageway (334) through the body (310). The inner surface (322) engages a removable pre-filled ink cup (205) to secure the ink cup (205) to the body (310). The inner surface (322) directs ink from the ink cup (205) through the passageway (334) toward an ink-receiving surface of a cliché (410). The doctor blade (312) is coupled with the body (310) and engages the cliché (410). The doctor blade (312) wipes the ink along the cliché (410) as the body (310) laterally moves relative to the cliché (410). The doctor blade (312) is coupled with the body (310) such that the doctor blade (312) is laterally spaced apart from the inner surface (322) of the body (310).
