PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device that improves convenience in inputting a character string by touch input.SOLUTION: The input device includes: a display section capable of accepting touch input; an information storage section for storing character strings to be input and identification information associated with the character strings to identify the objects of input; a position detection section capable of detecting the position of a touch input to the display section; and a control section for controlling display of the display section and executing a process in response to a detection result of the position detection section. The control section is configured to, if an initial position of touch input is within a character string input area for accepting a character string input, arrange near the position of touch input at least one candidate character that is a candidate specifying a character string to be input into the character string input area on the basis of the character strings to be input and the identification information.
