PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a protection element which equalizes a flux amount even when voids in flux, which causes variations in a flux application amount on a fusible conductor, occurs thereby improving variations in pre-arcing time-current characteristics.SOLUTION: A protection element 10 includes: an insulation substrate 11; a heating body 14; an insulation member 15; two electrodes 12; a heating body internal electrode 16; a fusible conductor 13 that is laminated ranging from the heating body internal electrode 16 to the two electrodes 12 and fuses a current path between the two electrodes 12 when being heated; flux 17 applied onto the fusible conductor 13 so as to overlap with the heating body; and a cover member 1 that covers at least the fusible conductor and is attached to the insulation substrate. The cover member 1 has a cylindrical protruding part 2 that is formed on an inner surface 1a of the cover member 1 facing the heating body 14 so as to contact with the flux 17. On a side wall surface of the cover member 1, a communication hole 3 is opened communicating with the inner surface 1a side of the cover member 1 from the interior of the protruding part 2. |
