PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for selecting a medication (e.g., psychotropic drug) for a patient, and more particularly selecting a patient's medication based on the genotype of genes encoding drug-metabolizing enzymes and genes encoding products involved in, for example, neurotransmission.SOLUTION: Methods for selecting a medication for a patient include steps of determining the patient's genotype for a panel of genes and selecting the medication based on the genotype. Articles of manufacture include nucleic acid molecules for detecting alleles of genes encoding drug metabolizing enzymes and genes encoding products involved in neurotransmission.
