PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device adopting a GH system capable of displaying a color image and improving contrast characteristics.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate comprising a plurality of first pixel electrodes 15 and a plurality of second pixel electrodes 16; a light reflection layer 6; a second substrate; a color filter 4; and a liquid crystal layer 3. The color filter 4 is provided on the first substrate or the second substrate, and comprises a plurality of pigmented layers 4R, 4G, and 4B different from each other in color tone which face to the plurality of second pixel electrodes 16. The liquid crystal layer 3 is held between the first substrate and the second substrate, and made of liquid crystal material added by dichroic pigment. Thickness of a layer facing the plurality of first pixel electrodes 15 is larger than that of a layer facing the plurality of second pixel electrodes 16. |
