[Problem] To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has excellent output characteristics and excellent thermal stability. [Solution] A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is provided with: a positive electrode that comprises a positive electrode mixture layer containing a positive electrode active material that is represented by Li1.08Ni0.43Co0.26Mn0.24O2 and has a lamellar structure; a negative electrode that comprises a negative electrode active material; a separator that is arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. A lithium ion-permeable coating film that is formed of carbon black is formed on the surface of the positive electrode active material, and the coating film contains lithium fluoride particles that are metal halide particles.
