[Problem] To provide an information processing device and an information processing method with which it is possible to carry out with high precision a detection of a facial characteristic location even if low reliability information is inputted for one or more facial characteristics. [Solution] An information processing device comprises: a facial image input means (101) for receiving an input of a facial image; a facial characteristic reliability generation means (105) for generating, from the facial image, on the basis of a plurality of identification apparatuses for calculating characteristic similarities of each characteristic of a face, a reliability image which represents characteristic similarities for each characteristic; a facial characteristic candidate location calculation means (107) for deriving, on the basis of the reliability image, a candidate location of the characteristic in the facial image; and a facial shape model congruency calculation means (111) for, on the basis of a location corresponding to each facial characteristic of one facial shape model which is selected from among the plurality of facial shape models which are statistically generated and the candidate location of the characteristic, establishing the characteristic which matches the conditions, and computing the congruency with the facial shape model. |
