The present invention provides: a culture medium which contains a retinoic acid compound and a histone deacetylase-inhibiting substance as active ingredients and which can be used for the introduction of a gene into a target cell using a viral vector; a method for introducing a gene into a target cell using a viral vector, wherein the culture medium is used in the introduction of the gene; and a method for producing a cell mass into which a gene has been introduced using a viral vector, wherein the culture medium is used.
