A garment 10 comprises a body portion 12 formed from a stretchable fabric having at least one opening 14 to encircle part of a wearers body and a band of cured silicone elastomer 16 adhered to the body portion about the opening so as to extend away from the body portion about the opening. The garment may further comprise an adhesive section (20, figure 4) on an inner surface of the band for locating against a wearers skin, the adhesive section being formed from a cured silicone elastomer exhibiting softer and tackier characteristics than the band. The garment preferably comprises a stretchable ring portion 18 adhered to the same surface of the band as the body portion. The stretchable ring portion may be a decorative or functional trim element. The body portion may be in the form of a vest section, a panty section of a pair of tights or a leg section of a stocking. Also disclosed is a method of forming the garment of the invention.
