The method involves merging a bearing outer ring (3) with a set of rolling bodies (4). The bearing outer ring and the set of the rolling bodies are preassembled. An expansion element to be pressed (6) is axially inserted between the two adjacent rolling bodies, so that the two adjacent rolling bodies are pushed in circumferential direction. A pre-assembled unit and a bearing inner ring (5) are axially merged, and the expansion element is withdrawn. A cage element is arranged between the two rolling bodies.
