PURPOSE: An electrical brush holder device and a related monitoring system indicate whether a dynamoelectric machine brush requires replacement or adjustment during the operation of the dynamoelectric machine brush. CONSTITUTION: A radio frequency identification (RFID) device (14) is attached to a brush holder. The RFID device includes a temperature sensor system (15) and a transmitter (34) for providing the indication of temperature. The temperature sensor system determines the temperature at one or more specific locations on the brush holder.
