The ignition coil has a winding with a winding end (13) that is directly connected to a contact structure (5) to form a high voltage outlet. The contact structure is in the form of cup shaped component and is adapted for direct contact with an ignition plug (3) or with an electrical connecting element (4), for providing an electrical connection between the ignition coil and the spark plug. An independent claim is included for ignition arrangement.
