A device for hanging a garment comprises at least one garment-shoulder support 103 pivotally 102 mounted upon at least one elongate member 401,101 such that it can hinge about the same, and is movable from a stowed position to an extended in use position. Preferably there are two elongate members forming part of the retractable handle assembly of an item of luggage such as a suitcase 401 or the supports 701 for a vehicle headrest 1301. The garment-shoulder support may be flush with the surface of the elongate member when in then stowed position. In an embodiment, the garment hanging device is provided as a retrofit and may be removably attached to the handle assembly of an item of luggage or the supports for a vehicle headrest.
