Gas turbine start with frequency converter

The method involves coupling a generator (18) to a gas turbine (2). A frequency converter (27) is connectable to an electrical grid (1) so as to feed current with a grid frequency. The frequency converter is controlled before the nominal rotational speed of the gas turbine is reached, during a start of the gas turbine. An output current is generated with the grid frequency. The generator is connected to the electrical grid by the frequency converter. An independent claim is included for a power plant installation.
