PURPOSE: A volume control method for controlling a television and an apparatus thereof can automatically control volume level of a television when telephoning, enabling telephone call while watching the television. CONSTITUTION: A volume control device stores currently designated volume level of a television (204). The volume control device receives calling initiation information informing initiation of a call from a communication terminal of a user (205). The volume control device controls the vocal level of the television to a predefined level (208). The volume control device receives call termination data informing call termination from the communication terminal (212). The volume control device controls the voice of television to the stored vocal level (214).
