The cutting device (1) has a slaving device (3) coupled with a rotary drive (4) for a food product (L). A cutting unit (2) is manually movable in a direction of the slaving device and comprises guide elements (2b) formed parallel to a rotational axis (9). A skewer is mounted on the cutting unit. The skewer rotational symmetrically retains the food product and remains connected with the food product even during a cutting process. The slaving device has a through hole through which the skewer is slid-through from one side (7) to another side (8) in a region of an arrangement of the cutting unit.
