A pseudo-symmetrical ergonomic keyboard (or virtual keyboard) has at least 5 rows of transverse keys that may be situated in such a way to allow a user to operate the keyboard with minimum of movement of hands, fingers and thumbs and to avoid unnatural extension of fingers on the left hand. In a fifth (20) nearest to the user row there are 14 equally space keys. In a fourth row (30) a first (e.g. tab-key) and thirteenth (e.g. backspace key) are 1.5 times as wide as high with the keys in between being equally spaced as square. In a third nearest row (40) the fist and thirteenth key are 1.25 times as wide as high with all keys being square in shape, with the space between the sixth and seventh keys being half a width of a square key wider than the space between the other adjacent keys. In the second row there is a square key space between the sixth the and seventh keys which may be occupied by a enter key that occupies both the first and second rows. A QUCFJK keyboard layout is also claimed.
